To our over 1,600 supporters: Thanks for coming out to cast your vote.  Unfortunately, it wasn't to be.  The three Republican incumbents have held their seats with approximately 2,500 votes.  It's at least two more years of one-party rule in Ringwood.  Let's hope it goes well.

The Republicans are Trying to Rewrite History... Click to See How

Why this election matters...

  • Democrats eliminated health insurance for council members and professionals – Potential taxpayer savings of over $160,000 per year – Ordinance opposed by incumbents Marsala and Anderson.

  • Democrats support the Ringwood Highlands Fair, a popular and successful celebration of our community, unwisely abolished by incumbent council people Marsala, Anderson and Schaefer

  • The current Republican administration lost taxpayers $50,000 due to failure to apply for Highlands Tax Stabilization Refund in 2008

  • Incumbent Anderson, a Stonetown resident, cast the deciding vote allowing the quarry to continue excavating below the elevation allowed by the court ordered consent decree.

  • Incumbents Anderson and Schaefer attempted to funnel over $1 million in open space money to a local developer and supporter for property assessed on the tax rolls at $30,000

"Open Government" means...

  • Allowing and encouraging public discussion through each phase of council meetings rather than limiting it to the beginning which stifles the dialog between concerned citizens and their public servants.   The single public portion requires residents to formulate questions without knowing the substance of scheduled agenda items thereby squelching potentially valuable feedback from the public.

  • Conducting an exhaustive and public search for the best qualified people to fill municipal positions rather than giving jobs to your friends and political allies.

  • Being receptive and responsive to public questions, opinions, and suggestions.

  • Being respectful of differing points of view.

  • Assuring that the public has full access to audio and video feeds and archives of Council meetings including live cable television coverage as required by the cable franchise agreement.

  • Making public documents available and searchable online.

  • Clearly defining and disclosing each municipal employee's job title, function, and salary including benefits.

  • Discussing and debating agenda items rather than "rubber stamping" complex initiatives.

Please review the issues we believe are critical to Ringwood's future and the accomplishments we've already made on your behalf.
