Maybe we can do it in 2011.

Michael Keen

Michael Keen is a sixteen-year resident of the Skyline Lakes community of Ringwood, a former member of the Ringwood Environmental Commission, and the owner of a successful local e-commerce business. Michael has long been an advocate for safer transportation in the region, having routinely communicated concerns and proposed solutions to the Borough Council, the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders, and the New Jersey Department of Transportation. He is seeking a seat on the Borough Council for the first time in the hopes of bringing more transparency and efficiency to local goverment through increased cooperation with county and state agencies as well as neighboring municipalities.

A graduate of William Paterson University, Michael holds a BA in Communications.

Michael, his wife, Carolyn, and his three children participate often in Borough functions and events including "Caring for Ringwood" days, recreation sports teams, and the Ringwood Forest volunteer playground build. Michael's younger daughter, Jennifer, attends Ringwood Public Schools while his older daughter, Allison, and son, William, attend Lakeland Regional High School.

Michael's e-commerce business, inksite.com, also provides IT technical support, consulting, and web hosting services. In fact, Michael's company was the borough's web and email hosting provider for several years. In that role, Michael saw certain opportunities to enhance the Borough's internet presence but as a host rather than a webmaster he lacked the authority to implement several of his recommended enhancements. As a Council member, he would like to see the internet leveraged to provide residents with real-time information about road closings as well as live and archived streaming video of Council meetings.
